Construction will soon commence on Ontario’s largest commercial solar energy rooftop portfolio ever installed.
Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies Corp (EHT) said it will complete 143 solar energy installations on various school rooftops across the Peel District School Board. First up is Hazel McCallion Public School in Mississauga.
With funds from a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Ontario government, the portfolio will exceed more than 38 megawatts, collectively cover about 5.5 million square feet and connect to the provincial electricity grid.
Immediate revenue is expected upon installation with a projected total of 15 million annually. Agreements were awarded under the FIT 3.0 Program (Feed in Tariff) and offer a rate of 32.9 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity produced.
EHT says its project will provide 3,500 homes with clean electricity, while offsetting 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year and create 150 direct skilled jobs.
Construction will begin in March 2015, with three installations every month throughout the year—that number increasing to five installations per month in 2016 and 2017.
