Shaw Industries Group Inc. recently broke ground on its new 67,000 square-foot facility in Cartersville, Ga. Upon its completion in late 2017, the Create Centre will house the commercial division’s marketing, design and innovation associates, including Shaw Contract’s marketing and product design teams.
Shaw’s $24-million facility was designed by architecture firm Gensler to offer a stimulating, storytelling environment that allows growth and innovation across the company’s commercial business. The Create Centre hopes to become LEED certified by the USGBC and will feature plenty of light throughout open spaces. It was designed to provide a collaborative environment to allow the sharing of ideas, ignite fresh thinking, foster the company’s culture of innovation, diversity and inclusion and showcase its design and performance leadership.
“This space is designed to spur global innovation for our marketing and design teams, and to inspire visitors and the greater community,” said John Stephens, Shaw’s VP of marketing, in a press release. “Shaw Contract is recognized as a leader in commercial design, and The Create Centre reflects the ideal environment to host clients, inform design professionals and promote our position as a global flooring provider.”
The new building will be located near Shaw Plant 94, where the company’s commercial design and marketing teams, as well as manufacturing operations, are currently located, to facilitate information sharing and engagement between different teams.
In addition to the Create Centre, Shaw Contract has showrooms in several global design hubs, including Atlanta, New York, London, Shanghai and Beijing. It is currently on track to open an $85 million carpet tile manufacturing facility in Adairsville, Ga. later this year.
