In partnership with Mizrahi Developments, London-based Foster + Partners recently unveiled their design plans for “The One,” a development which, if approved by City Council, will feature Canada’s second tallest tower next to the CN Tower. Following a successful approval process, the 80-storey mixed-use development will be constructed at 1 Bloor St. W, the site of Toronto’s historic Stollerys retail shop.

The 318-metre-high building will include a residential tower and retail space connected to Toronto’s underground pedestrian ‘PATH’ network. The development will be comprised of:

  • Nine levels of shops, cafes and restaurants;
  • 560 residential units;
  • A 60-metre atrium;
  • Express elevators;
  • 600 parking spaces with valet service;
  • A flexible ‘urban room’; and
  • Indoor/outdoor gardens.

The partners, which include Toronto-based architecture firm Core Architects, also have plans to expand the site’s existing sidewalk space to accommodate heavier pedestrian traffic.

The developer is currently working with the City of Toronto to amend the zoning laws for the site.
