IFMA celebrates publication of newest FM standard

Wednesday, May 9, 2018

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is celebrating the publication of a new management systems standard for the industry: “ISO 41001: 2018, Facility Management – Management Systems – Requirements with guidance for use.” The standard is available for purchase from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) at www.iso.org/standard/68021.html.

This newest publication joins a growing library of global FM standards produced by ISO, an independent, non-governmental organization and developer of international voluntary consensus standards. ISO recently published two FM standards in April 2017 (ISO 41011: 2017, Facility Management – Vocabulary and ISO 41012: 2017, Facility management – Guidance on strategic sourcing and the development of agreements) and a third in July 2017 (ISO/TR 41013: 2017 Facility management – Scope, key concepts and benefits).

For nearly 40 years, IFMA has worked with FM stakeholders to develop and support global standards for the industry. Whether through its collaboration with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or through earlier partnerships that led the way to Global FM, IFMA has hailed industry standards as the key to unifying the practice of FM around the world.

IFMA has served as administrator on behalf of the American National Standards Institute U.S. Technical Advisory Group since 2012, in an important role supporting the development of national FM standards.
