IDC CEO Tony Brenders stepping down

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

The Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) board of management has announced the resignation of CEO, Tony Brenders, effective May 31, 2020.

“The entire board is extremely grateful for having had Tony leading the association over the last four years, moving it forward on several fronts,” says Carol Jones, IDC president. “During his tenure, IDC has realized significant improvements to the IDC board and governance structures, seen the launch of IDC’s National Design Symposium, VODA and Legacy Awards, and the development of a very dedicated team of professionals.”

Jones went on to say, “The Canadian interior design community has been strengthened over the past four years, with Tony at the helm. The national and international reputation of Canadian interior designers has been advanced by Tony’s leadership and dedication to advocacy, on behalf of the industry.”

Brenders noted that “the past four years have provided a remarkable opportunity for change and growth that have furthered IDC’s efforts in support of the design profession and interior designers, across the country. My decision to leave, while difficult, is made easier knowing that IDC has a passionate and committed board, staff, and volunteer community in place, working tirelessly, on behalf of this wonderful profession.”

IDC has established a Recruitment Committee charged with carrying out the search for a new CEO.

As the national advocacy body, IDC represents more than 5,000 members including fully qualified interior designers and related professionals.
