Ada Bonini, principal of Bob’s Your Uncle Design Ltd. in Vancouver, is the new president of the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC).

As an involved, long-time member of the Interior Designers Institute of British Columbia (IDIBC), Bonini brings valuable association experience to her new role.

“IDC’s advocacy and government relations efforts over the last year have been met with great enthusiasm,” says Bonini. “We are on a path to greater local, national and international recognition for Canadian interior designers. I am excited to be president at such an important time for the profession.”

Bonini replaces David Gibbons of LWG Architectural Interiors in Ottawa, who assumes the role of past-president. Denis Chouinard of Desjardin Group in Lévis, Que., and Aandra Currie Shearer of Kindrachuk Agrey Architecture in Richmond, B.C., are IDC’s new 1st and 2nd vice-presidents, respectively.

Seven new directors were also appointed to the IDC board of management at the association’s annual meeting Sept. 27 in Toronto.

Ellyn Berg of Berg Design and Consulting in Saskatchewan, Lori Arnold of MAC Interior Design in Nova Scotia, Karla Korman of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries in Manitoba, and Michele Roach of Wolski Design Group in Alberta join the board as provincial directors. Also joining the board is: Kara MacGregor of MAC Interior Design as director at-large; Susanne Koltai of Dawson College in Quebec, as director of education; and Sarah Parker Charles of Stantec Architecture as provisional director.

Also part of the annual meeting was the official induction of the Interior Designers of Newfoundland and Labrador (IDNL) as provisional association members.
