Halifax Regional Municipality is opening eight temporary debris depots and doubling the allowable limit for yard waste disposal to accommodate storm damage cleanup in the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. The depots will accept unbagged storm-related waste from September 28 to October 5.

Beginning September 27, residents can set out up to 10 bundles of branches and 20 paper bags of yard waste for organics collection. Branch bundles must not exceed 75 pounds or contain any pieces that are longer than four feet or more than eight inches in diameter.

Municipal works crews are tasked with removing fallen trees in public spaces and municipally owned trees that have fallen onto private property. Homeowners and landlords will be responsible for clearing damage on their properties related to their privately owned greenery and structures.
