Wednesday, June 7, 2023

Averton’s new mixed-use community in Edmonton, AB, has achieved Built Green Communities certification for its first phase of development. “Midtown” is the second property to receive this certification.

Located in St. Albert’s, Midtown is a 45-acre, master-planned community that will offer a diverse range of housing types, including rental residences and for-sale condominiums. It was designed with open spaces, community, diversity, safety, and general accessibility in mind.

“We are pleased to see Averton’s Midtown community receive its BUIILT GREEN certification for phase one,” said St. Albert Mayor, Cathy Heron. “Midtown is well aligned with the city of St. Albert’s residents who want their trees, a healthy Sturgeon River, and vibrancy. The community is situated close to nature with the Red Willow Trail extending in every direction, and its design will enable a healthy lifestyle, encourage wellness, while featuring many shared spaces for neighbours and visitors to gather.”

Midtown’s location will put future residents close to nature, with a nearby trail system and several acres of walkable conveniences and amenities. It has already won awards through BILD and CHBA, including Alberta’s Best New Community, Edmonton’s Best New Community, and was recently recognized as International Project of the Year.

The first Community certification was awarded to Spring Creek in 2021 for its Spring Creek Mountain Village located in Canmore, Alberta.
