T.O. tops residential construction market ranking

Across Canada, there were 213,683 homes under construction at the end of Q2 2014, reports BuzzBuzzHome. The Toronto metro area ranked first on a list of the top residential construction markets in the country with a total of 81,061 homes under construction, 52,714 of which were condominiums.

According to BuzzBuzzHome, Canada’s top 10 residential construction markets (as defined by census metropolitan areas) are:

1. Toronto: 81,061 homes
2. Montreal: 30,238 homes
3. Calgary: 29,438 homes
4. Vancouver: 22,412 homes
5. Edmonton: 18,193 homes
6. Ottawa: 16,098 homes
7. Kitchener/Waterloo: 5,074 homes
8. Winnipeg: 3,885 homes
9. Halifax: 3,711 homes
10. Hamilton: 3,573 homes

In the Toronto metro area, 47,750 of the homes under construction are located in the City of Toronto. Of those homes, 91.48 per cent, or 43,682 units, are condominiums.
