Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Condo developer Canderel Residential recently announced a partnership with Samsung to make its 66-floor YC condominium development “smart.” Coined the Canderel Digital Home, a True Marque Project Powered by Samsung, the YC condominium residences, located at Toronto’s Yonge and College streets, will be completely digitized.

Condo owners will be able to “connect” with their unit through a smartphone app that will allow them to access everything from their unit’s door lock and surveillance system to temperature and lighting. The Samsung Smart door lock has the ability to assign passwords to different people and can be unlocked by owners remotely to grant entry to dog walkers, housekeepers and couriers.

Other features of the Digital Home include:

  • real-time video connectivity
  • two-way communication motion sensors
  • control of televisions, audio systems, blu-ray devices, electronic window blinds and other in-home control features

Penthouse suites will be equipped with a Samsung Smart Station, including a wall pad and door camera. These features will be offered to other condo owners as an upgrade.

The community, which will be ready for occupancy in 2017, will be the first of its kind in Canada. A more complete picture of the Canderel Digital Home can be seen on Vimeo.
