Supportive living residence opens in Saskatoon

A new supportive living rental residence has opened at 5310 Clarence Avenue South in Corman Park in Saskatoon. Made possible through the efforts of the Saskatchewan government and the development itself, the Walters Lane Community Residence will provide housing for adults with cognitive disabilities.

Through the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, the province contributed $200,000 to the development, which includes 10 units, each with a private en suite bathroom. The property features a common area with kitchen.

“Our Government is proud to help improve the quality of life of Saskatchewan people,” says Don Morgan, Education Minister and MLA for Saskatoon Southeast. “This residence will provide 10 adults with cognitive disabilities the supports they require so they can remain close to family and friends, and participate in the community.  This project represents what the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth is all about – to support individuals and families in greatest housing need in communities across the province.”

The project, which opened in late July, is aligned with Saskatchewan’s Provincial Housing Strategy which prioritizes the need for increasing housing supply, improvements in housing affordability and providing support to individuals and families in the greatest need of housing.
