LEED Gold certification grows during Q2

Thursday, August 7, 2014

The number of LEED Gold registrations and certifications has grown during the April to June period, bringing the Canadian year-to-date total of completed Gold projects to 89.

“The second quarter of 2014 was a big one for us at the CaGBC with the launch of the LEED v4 Alternative Compliance Paths to Canadians, and the release of the first-ever major green building study in Canada,” says Mark Hutchinson, director of green building programs for the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC). “That momentum showed itself in our LEED registration and certification numbers for Q2, with strong levels of growth across all building types.”

More than 100 projects received certifications during the past three months. Highlights include: The IBM Canadian Leadership Data Centre in Barrie, Ont. (LEED Gold); The Midori Uchi project in Vancouver (LEED Platinum); The BIO-Canadian Coast Guard Building in Dartmouth, N.S. (LEED Gold); and Quebec City’s TELUS House (LEED Gold).

The complete year-to-date breakdown is:

  • 89 LEED Gold projects
  • 85 LEED Silver projects
  • 67 LEED certified projects
  • 12 LEED Platinum projects
