The number of LEED-certified buildings in Sweden may see a 33 per cent increase in 2014 compared to last year, according to a new report from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Titled LEED in Motion: Sweden, the report claims that the increase is dependent on whether the upward trend continues beyond the first quarter of 2014, which saw six project receive certification.
“Sweden is an unequivocal leader that has, time and again, demonstrated its commitment to healthy buildings and healthy people, and we are proud to showcase its strategies and successes in our latest LEED in Motion report,” says Rick Fedrizzi, CEO and founding chair of the USGBC.
Sweden boasts 57 LEED-certified projects, which translate to 1.1 million gross square metres of space. The majority of these structures have earned the highest tiers of certification, with 67 per receiving Gold and 23 per cent receiving Platinum certification.
