John McKinlay named LaSalle Canada CEO

John McKinlay has been named chief executive officer of LaSalle Investment Management Canada and will also become a member of LaSalle’s Americas Management Board. Beginning August 9, current CEO Zelick Altman will move into the role of executive chairman, while remaining president of LaSalle Canada Income & Growth Funds.

“John is a great fit for LaSalle and I look forward to working with him,” Altman says. “He is a talented and energetic individual who can aggressively grow our Canadian platform.”

McKinlay comes to this new post after most recently serving as executive vice president, acquisitions, with Bentall Kennedy, where he oversaw more than $5 billion in transactions during the past five years. His 20+ years of experience in real estate investment management also includes senior positions with GE Capital.

As LaSalle Canada CEO, McKinlay will oversee all aspects of its Canadian business, lead a 19-person team based in Toronto and report directly to LaSalle Americas CEO, Jason Kern.

“John brings deep investment management experience and leadership with strong relationships in the Canadian market, an impressive track record of originating and closing real estate transactions, extensive experience in asset management, and a successful history of managing and leading new investment initiatives,” Kern says.
