Renovations are now complete at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, one of Canada’s most historic properties. This follows Ivanhoé Cambridge’s $75-million investment to rejuvenate more than 300 rooms of the storied Quebec City hotel.
“This major investment perfectly illustrates our ability to invest in a way that strikes the right balance between preserving a heritage building as prestigious and admired as the Château Frontenac and taking into account the requirements for performance and returns of a hotel asset,” says Daniel Fournier, chairman and CEO of Ivanhoé Cambridge.
A majority of the renovation budget ($66 million) went to interior upgrades, while the remaining $9 million was directed to masonry work and a new copper roof.
Renovated features include a complete revamping and addition of 14 new rooms to Fairmont Gold, the in-house 60-room boutique accommodations, plus a 75 per cent expansion to the hotel’s meeting and banquet space.
“Our goal was to renovate this icon while preserving its heritage and adding a contemporary aspect so that we can offer our guests an unprecedented experience and meet their highest expectations,” says Château Frontenac general manager Robert Mercure.
