There really is a Santa Claus, or there will be one in China, now that Finnish companies, Lappset Group and SantaPark have announced plans to construct the first Christmas theme park in the country.

Along with Floraland Tourism Investment, an operator of Chinese amusement parks, and Pureland Investment Company, the group hopes to design a magical Christmas atmosphere in Chengdu, comprising more than 32,000 square feet.

”There has been a lot of interest in the authentic Christmas theme park from different parts of the world, especially in Asia,” says Ilkka Lankinen, chief-executive-officer of SantaPark. “By combining our well proven SantaPark Concept together with Lappset’s solid experience of design and manufacturing of themed attractions, we have made an exceptional concept.”

Both Finnish companies are experts in creating theme parks. The Lappset Group has constructed several large indoor and outdoor themed facilities around the world, while SantaPark’s Finnish-themed attraction located in Rovaniemi, inside the Arctic circle, features Mrs. Claus’ gingerbread bakery and sleigh rides through the elves’ toy factory.

“We are confident and capable to have this great project as a successful sample of the cultural cooperation between China and Finland,” says Deng Xing, general manager of Chengdu Floraland Tourism Investment. “In our opinion, this is not only an entertainment park, but also a great bridge of Sino-Fin friendship.”

The theme park is expected to open in June 2016.
