Four Canadians have recently been named 2014 LEED Fellows for their advocacy and contributions to the green building movement in Canada.

After peer nominations and an extensive portfolio review, The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced there are 48 Fellows in total across North America.

Canadian Fellows are: Alex Zimmerman, president and chief executive officer at Applied Green Consulting; Braden Kurczak, business development manager at MMM Group; Jamie McKay, sustainability and durability building consultant at Morrison Hershfield Limited; and Joanne Perdue, University of Calgary’s first chief sustainability officer.

Each individual had to have at least 10 years of experience in the green building industry and hold a LEED AP with specialty credential.

“The 2014 LEED Fellows are utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience in green building to engage their colleagues, clients and communities to create a better built environment throughout the world,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, chief executive officer and founding chair of USGBC. “We recognize their commitment to LEED and celebrate their individual achievements.”

The Fellows will be officially honoured during the upcoming Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in New Orleans from October 22 to 24.
