Bird Construction selected for Kamloops hospital

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

B.C. Interior Health has named Bird Construction as its preferred proponent to design and build the new Clinical Services Building (CSB) at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

As part of the design-build agreement, the preferred proponent is responsible for completing the final designs of the Clinical Services Building, and for overseeing the subsequent construction of the new facility.

The project includes improvied site access, expanded space for medical outpatient services, a clinical education program space, and the University of British Columbia’s medical school. Additional parking stalls and a pedestrian bridge link connecting the new building to the main hospital are also planned.

The CSB project cost will cost about $79.8 million, which will be shared between the province of B.C. and the Thompson Regional Hospital District.

Construction will begin this spring, and is estimated for completion by 2016.
